Looking Ahead: Life As A Full Time Artist

I'm A Full Time Artist Now!

It's been a while since I've made a post, and some major changes have happened since my show at Leeward!

After the show, I was lucky to have another showcase for First Thursday in the Pearl District @ Anthropologie. What a dream! I finally got to share my floral series (2016) with you, and I'm thrilled it was well-received. It gave me a chance to show a side of my work that is really close to my heart.

Since then, it has seemed like things started to unfold and the inspiration has been endless. This momentum, combined with my term as Interim Display Coordinator for Anthropologie coming to a close, I decided to pursue art full time.

I know, full time artist...drastic, huh? But I surprisingly feel so calm and positive about where this journey is taking me. There are ups and downs, but most of all it's been the best decision.

Latest Inspiration

Here are some elements I've found very inspiring lately:

1) Our old travel photos from France. In order to fill in the gaps, I check my pinterest board "Art" for some wanderlust!

EzeSurMer

2) "Call Me By Your Name (2017)" Alright If you haven't seen this movie, please, just watch it. It's so so so beautiful, heartbreaking, and full of love.

Orange With Blue Print

3) Challenging my painting process and trying new techniques. When I get stuck in a rut, trying a new approach to my method really helps me. I have found that painting oils over acrylics for color depth, and using colors I normally avoided (red, chartreuse, yellow, purple, pthalo green) has led me to major growth and to make work I'm proud of.

Upcoming Shows

On Saturday June 30th, 2018 I'm having an open studio event at the North Coast Seed Building Artist Studios in PDX. White Owl Social Club will be hosting a beer garden, a photo booth will be provided by Portland Darkroom, and a ton of vendors and artist will be selling their work from the last 6 months! It would be amazing to see you, and if you can't make it, see if a friend would like to come! It's free!

Meditation:

What do you do to stay inspired?
